What if the NBL had Alternate uniforms?

Do you love your team but hate watching them play on the road in their plain white jerseys?

What if your team had an alternate uniform to wear on the road that gave them a more dynamic look than the white getup?

Adelaide 36ers
The 36ers would look super sweet rolling in red, leaving the white unforms for colour clashes against Perth and Wollongong.

Here Stephen Weigh shows how the ‘City of Churches’ might just look like in red.

Cairn Taipans
Cairns would most likely hit the road in a dark blue number that could be used against all teams except the Breakers and the Adelaide 36ers.

Jamar Wilson looks great stuffing it home on the break but he looks fantastic when doing it in dark blue.

Gold Coast Blaze
The Blaze would most likely look to heat things up on the road in a warm orange uniform. When coupled with a ‘run and gun’ offense that is ‘on’ it will be enough to make any opposing fan’s blood boil. The white uniforms would still need to be bought out for away games against Cairns and maybe the red teams being Perth & Wollongong.

Blaze point guard Adam Gibson shows how the Blaze could look in orange.

Melbourne Tigers
The Melbourne Tigers have only ever been two colours, red and yellow. Channeling the roaring Tigers of yesteryear if the league decided to implement alternate uniforms the obvious choice for the Tigers would be yellow, which may cause a colour clash against the Taipans so the white uniforms would still be needed.

Tigers import Ron Dorsey would look at home dunking the ball on the road in a bright yellow uniform.

New Zealand Breakers
If alternate uniforms were ‘in’ the obvious choice for the Breakers is powder blue. With the exceptions being the Gold Coast Blaze and maybe the Adelaide 36ers the boys from the other side of the isle could wear these on the road.

As quick as Cedric Jackson is we would look great in powder blue, as would the rest of the Breaker boys.

Perth Wildcats
The boys from the West would be ‘back in black’. The last time the Wildcats wore red on black they had ‘The Wall’ with James Crawford, Andrew Vlahov and Scott Fisher. Now they would have “The Little Wall’ with Kevin Lisch, Damian Martin and Brad Robbins.  Colour clashes would be the darker uniforms with the Kings, Breakers and maybe the 36ers

Here Kevin Lisch takes a second to assess how he might look in a black alternate Wildcat uniform.

Sydney Kings
In an alternate uniform another team looking to to channel their glorious yesteryear would be the Sydney Kings who would more than likely bring back the yellow. Not only would the yellow look good against most teams on the road the Kings would look fresh. The Kings might need to ditch the colours for away games against the Snakes.

Point guard Aaron Bruce would have no problem spotting his teammates in a bright yellow jersey.

Townsville Crocs
Yes we know the Crocs have wore black in the past and this might be the primary choice for many but we would love to see the Crocs hit the road in blue. Some might not remember but there was a time when the Crocs did wear blue.  Colour clashes would be the Blaze, 36ers and the Breakers.

Luke Schenscher’s hair would compliment the right shade of blue just perfectly.

Wollongong Hawks
We all know the Hawks choice of colour has always been red and white so if they were required to dress in an alternate uniform what colour would it be? We think the Hawks would look great in a gun metal grey.

No this is not a jibe at some of the old timers on the roster (and we note that they have aged well) we think that the grey would be a good addition to a team that has been so loyal to their colour scheme over the years.

What do you think about our alternate uniform designs? What would you think if the NBL decided to allow/permit/ encourage teams to add an alternate jersey to their current coloured home uniform and white away uniform?
